Opening Night Party
Tuesday, July 26, 2011 | 8:30 pm—Midnight
We’re hosting an eco-friendly Block Party between Cass and Park Streets on opening night, and you’re invited! This year, we scheduled the opening night movies so that guests can attend both the party and the movie. Help us welcome filmmakers from around the world to this year’s festival. Be the first to “rub shoulders” with the people who make the movies and who have brought a piece of Hollywood with them to northern Michigan. We’ll transform Front Street into a block party featuring local cuisine and fabulous entertainment. K Jones and the Benzie Playboys will be there to get us all jiving to Zydeco music.
Attendees will have the chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two, courtesy of Passageways Travel and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. This is your chance to win a tropical getaway and experience gourmet dining, exciting on ship entertainment, and vibrant ports of call. The cruise is valued at $1,500 and includes $400 in airfare per person.

Awards Ceremony

No longer will the awards of the Traverse City Film Festival be given out during the revelry of the Closing Night Party — this year, we’re bringing the celebration of the festival’s award-winning filmmakers inside the majestic State Theatre. Enjoy complimentary food and drink and an exciting show as the jury and founders awards are handed out to this year’s winning filmmakers. And as a special treat, attendees of the first-ever TCFF awards ceremony will get to see ArtServe Michigan present TCFF Founder and President Michael Moore with its 2011 Arts Legacy Award for his contributions to the arts and culture in Michigan as a filmmaker and through his leadership in the restoration of the historic State Theatre and founding of the TCFF.
